Anti-Bullying Week: dealing with child cyberbullying and online abuse

This week is Anti-Bullying Week. Something we didn't have to deal with when I was a child was the possibility of being bullied online. Whatever happened at school or elsewhere didn't follow  you home - once you got home, you were safe. Online bullying is one of the things that worries me most for my two as they grow up and join the online world.

There is a wealth of information online for parents to understand the possible issues that children may have with cyberbullying and online abuse, what to look out for, how to deal with it, and how to keep you children safe online.

While the emotional aspects of bullying continue to be devastating, the internet and social media have changed the way children experience bullying. Cyberbullying, simply put is bullying that happens online through social, gaming or instant messaging platforms.
