Watch David Olusoga's lesson on the importance of the UK census

As part of the Census 2021 education programme Let’s Count!, David Olusoga will give a live lesson aimed primarily at KS2 children on equality, representation and the census.

The lesson will be broadcast live:

In this free online lesson for ages 7-11 (KS2), Professor David Olusoga will show children how the census has become one of the most useful tools, not just for government to plan for the future, but for historians to find out about the past. He will show how the census and other historical sources can be used to make the lives of people from different ethnic backgrounds more visible. The lesson will be available on demand after the event on the Census 2021 YouTube Channel.

You can download David’s full extended lesson slides, find details on how to get past census data for your local area and other resources for Primary schools from the Let's Count! Census 2021 website. You can download Secondary school resources from the Census Education website.
