Read along with Michelle Obama!

The American public television channel PBS produces a wealth of educational programs. In conjunction with the literacy initiative READ TOGETHER, BE TOGETHER, PBS Kids are providing a set of virtual storytime programs via YouTube featuring a roster of author and celebrity readers.

Amongst these celebrity readers is former First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama. The four books Mrs Obama has chosen to read are:

  • April 20 - The Gruffalo Written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler
  • April 27 - There’s a Dragon in Your Book Written by Tom Fletcher and illustrated by Greg Abbott
  • May 4 12:00 ET (17:00 BST) - Miss Maple’s Seeds Story and pictures by Eliza Wheeler
  • May 11 12:00 ET (17:00 BST) - The Very Hungry Caterpillar By Eric Carle

“Mondays with Michelle Obama” will be live-streamed simultaneously on PBS KIDS’ Facebook page and YouTube channel. You can stream these after the event from PBS Kids YouTube Channel.

Each of the books are available at www.readtogetherbetogether.com, and companion literacy resources are available on pbskidsforparents.org.

PBS Kids also provides related activities to go with each of the books shared as part of their 'Read-Along' sessions.
