'Ten Pieces @ Home': A weekly activity to explore classical music at home with your kids

BBC Teach have been providing a way to explore the world of classical music with 7-14 year olds with their Ten Pieces series. Each week, you can get involved with a creative activity exploring a classical theme, starting with a short film to watch. Here is an overview of what has been covered so far:

  • Write a poem inspired by a journey with Simon Mole...
  • Tell a story with your very own body percussion music...
  • Draw a portrait and write a musical memory...
  • Sing with the BBC Singers...
  • Things are getting dramatic! (Become a mythical warrior ...)
  • Create your own 3D sculpture...
  • Illustration inspired by Stravinsky's 'The Firebird'
  • Learn and perform Cuban rhythms inspired by Bernstein's 'Mambo'...
  • Write your own story inspired by a mythical creature...
  • Create a news bulletin with the help of CBBC's Newsround...
  • Get moving and create turntable inspired choreography with Sadler's Wells…

Visit the Ten Pieces at Home page to view all the weekly activities.
