Free theatrical stories from the marvellous Unicorn Theatre

I have written about productions from the Unicorn Theatre before - namely their brilliant theatrical reading of Roald Dahl's The Twits (ages 6-12 years) and their winter production for little ones The Huddle (ages 2-5 years).

Throughout lockdown#3 - until the end of March - the Unicorn Theatre has extended their free access to the above and has also included two other productions: theatrical readings of Philip Pullman's Grimm Tales (ages 8-12 years) and Anansi the Spider Re-spun (ages 3-8 years).

All are available on demand from their YouTube Channel until 31 March 2021. You can also view and download some really engaging supporting resources from the Unicorn Theatre website for each of the productions.

If you have enjoyed the free productions, and using the accompanying resources, please do consider making a donation to the Unicorn Theatre to support them whilst their building is closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adapted by Philip Pullman (His Dark Materials), we’re thrilled to present a deliciously gruesome selection of six theatrical readings from Grimm Tales, re-told for the whole family by an extraordinary cast. These classic fairy tales, distilled from centuries of storytelling, are timeworn but honed for the next generation to discover anew. Our selection includes classic favourites with new discoveries, and takes us to the very heart of imagination and speaks of the things it finds there - fear, courage, compassion and wonder. As part of Unicorn Online, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are offering a range of free online theatrical experiences that we hope will be enjoyed by children across London, the UK and beyond.
